FEATHERSTON V. KARORI

Although club championship shooting ceitamly creates keen interest and consistent attendance among riflemen, it takes a inendly anlerclub match such as was fired at Tientham on Saturday last between >eatheislon Rifle Club and Karori Rifle Club to.display that true spirit of sportsmanship and general sense of good feeling that exists among riflemen everywhere. The weather and visibility' were good, but ■with? a keen breeze blowing in from 1 Vclock and sometimes changing to the left the conditions were such that every •'bull" had ,to bo fought for. This was accentuated by the' fact that the flags were not giving true indications of wind changes.

The ranges over which these two teams fired were 500 and COO yards. At 500 yards_Gol<lfinch and Dore JKarori) set the'pace wTfE~4Beacli." Featfferston replied with two 47's by L. Benton and K. M'Kenzfe. At 600 yards these same; two shots were again together in compiling the highest range score of 45 each.\ Karori's best scorers there were, H. Keene, F. W. Ching, and P. B. Goldfinch, with 44 each. Out of 12 chosen men the ten highest scores on each side were taken. They are as follow:— , / Karori, 455, 425 883 Featherston, 450, 407 ~.'.. ;■«. 857 This shows a win-for Karori by the . comfortable margin of-265:ppints. At the conclusion of the match refreshments were taken, and Pies. R. Caughley,-of Karori^ welcomed the visitors, and thanked them for still maintaining, that" keen-interest and friendly rivalry "which .■ existed between the two clubs, and which he hoped would longl continue to exist. Pres..W. Johnson suitably replied on behalf of the Featherston Club. Detailed scores are aa follow:—
