"SPORTS CLOTHES."

AN INTERESTING LECTURETTE,

"Just because you are not going skiing to Chateau Tongariro, or. climbing to Mount Cook, that is no reason why you should not be interested in sports clothes," said Mrs. T. W. Lewis, in an interesting and instructive lecturette, entitled "Sports Clothes," wh,ich was delivered in the D.I.C. Showrooms last Thursday morning. Mrs. Lewis went on to explain that sports wear was gust the new term for winter and outdoor wear, and asked her audience to accompany her on a shopping tour, the object of which was to show how a winter wardrobe could bo effectively and economically assembled. For the purposes of practical illustration models of different types and styles were in readiness. Coats were first of all chosen for these models, then jumper suits, tweed dresses, blouses, skirts, hats, and other garments, one by one, were picked out —contrasted — or matched. In each case reasons wero given for tho choice. Each ensemble in this way was built up. Then, tan ensemble completed it was shown how, by substituting one garment and perhaps change of accessories, the whole aspect of the costume could be changed, so that it would be possible to acquire two distinct ensembles a L, little more expense than/for one. Special interest centred round an Easter travelling turn-out, which comprised a smart tweed coat, a jumper suit,, and a separate sleeveless cardigan. Then another bright coloured cardigan was substituted for wear with the same garments, and this gave a complete outfit for any outdoor Easter occasion. In concluding her remarks Mrs. Lewis spoko of the eervico that the D.I.C. was ready to give at all times, and also stated that she hoped in the near future to give special talks to women of her own age and others on evening gowns and more formal wear., ■ The appreciation shown by the guests throughout the performance went far to prove that the lecture had been a great success.—(Published by arrangement.)
