SPEEDWAY CONTESTS
For the meeting at the Kilbirnie Stadium Speedwny to-night there are excellent prospects of fine performances and keen racing-under the best conditions. One of the big events will be the Golden Helmet contest, in which C. Spinks and F. Bennish, of Australia, and W. Kilmister, T. Wilkinson, E. Jtfaylor, and W. B Harvie will be the claimants to possession of the trophy. This fine selection of riders should account of thrilling competition with high-class broadsiding. Spinks, who will be making his iinal appearance before leaving for England, is to attempt to break the -record of Frank Pearce, and he will make his special effort to break 7G seconds for four laps at the start of the meeting. Another event of note will be the Silver Gauntlet contest, in which a number of the leading local riders will bo engaged. Two handicap events are to be decided, and both should add to the thrills of the evening's sport. The meeting will be one of the last of tho season, which closes this month.
