(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
DUNEDIN, This Day. The super-tax on land and tho primage duty were discussed at a meeting of the Provincial Executive of the Otago Farmers' Union. The matter came forward in the form of the following remit from the Palmerston branch:— "That this branch enters an emphatic protest against any increase in the land tax, considering that it is wrong in principle and is simply class taxation."
Mr. E. H. Murney said he was against an increase of any kind in taxation. If the Government could not live within Us income there was something wrong. A higher tax made on any class of the community would have a detrimental effect. It would make unemployment worse. If they wanted to get rid of unemployment they should bring about a decrease in taxation.
The motion was 'seconded by Mr. Reid and carried. ; .
