The happy plan of Major Beaumont Thomas, member of the British House of Commons for King's Norton Division of Birmingham, of living in his yacht on the Thames in order to save the expense of a London residence, recalls an application once made by Mr. King O'Malley when a member of the Federal Parliament ot' Australia. On the plea that bis salary did not permit of the high cost of a flat in the city, he petitioned for a grant of sufficient ground iv the I' :liamerit House gardens to "erect a waterproof compressed canvas tent," in -which he proposed to live during the Eessiou.
