MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by Mr. E. Page, S.M.
One first offender for drunkenness, who had spent the night in the cells, was convicted and discharged.
Dennis Allen, aged 41, for his second statutory offence of drunkenness, -was fined 10s, in default 4S hours' imprisonment. '--.'.-.-
For his third statutory offence of drunkenness, John Burke, aged 49, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months. He was similarly dealt with for committing the third breach of his prohibition order., Senior-Sergeant Ward: said that Burke had been frequently before the Court for molesting his wife. ■He had been sentenced to two' months' imprisonment in .Tune last, and'had only been out of gaol two or three days. -When Burke took liquor he would go to-the house of his wife, from whom he was, separated; he was there the day before. yesterday and yesterday. ' .....
Burke said that he had work to So to on a country station, and asked the Magistrate to give him another chance. "All right,' 'replied Mr. Page, "I will give you a chance. Get away on to that station and stay there." .-:
