A REFORM PARTY PROMISE
■Shortly before the Kcform Goveinmcut went out of office a promise was made to Price Urothers, of Thames, that an order would bo given them for the construction of two heavy railway locomotives, which would gLvc work "to the workshops staff for about a year. On the change of Government it was notified that no further Government work would be available. The member for the district, Mr. A. M. Samuel, made representations to the Prime Minister yesterday, pointing out that unless the original promise was kept a number of skilled men would have to seek employment elsewhere. Tic urged the Government to reverse its decision. Sir Joseph Ward undertook to discuss the matter with the Minister of Railways and give a reph' as soon as possible. __^^^^^^^^^^
