"There aro more players than ever before, and the competition promises to be as spirited and healthy as in past years," says a writer in a Southern journal commenting on the season's prospects in Dunedin. In all probability the Southland representative team will tour as far north as Napier this year. The proposed itinerary includes matches with Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Manawheima, Wellington, Canterbury, South Canterbury, and Otago.
