A young man who pleaded guilty in. the Magistrato"s Court yesterday to obtaining sums of. money amounting to £35 by means of false pretences, appeared before Mr. E. Pago, S.M., for sentence to-day. "I have the report of the Probation Officer on this man," said ihe Magistrate, "and I propose to admit him to probation for three years. Ho is to refrain from cither drinking or gambling during that period and is to refund the money in such sums as tho Probation Officer thinki fit."
