SENTENCE OF FIVE YEARS WITNESS INTIMIDATED United Press Association—By Electric Tel«» craph—Copyright. (Received 17th November, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. William Smiley, 26, was sentenced to five years' penal servitude for causing bodily harm to two men. The prisoner, a razor gangster, was described as a dangerous criminal. It was also stated that the gang endeavoured to prevent the principal Crown witness from appearing, and threatened to blow up tho house where ho resided, necessitating police protection for the house, which had already been damaged by a party of intruders while the witness was away at the preliminary Court proceedings. He had now removed with his family to an undisclosed address. In the meantime, the witness has had special plain-clothes protectors while proceeding to and from work.
