UNEMPLOYMENT COSTS
BRITAIN'S BIGGER BILL . LABOUR BLAMED Australian Press Association.—United Service. LONDON, 16th November. In the House of Commons, a Bill oxtending the unemployment insurance funds borrowing powers from £30,000,----000 to £40,000,000 was read a second time. Mr. H. B. Betterton, Under-Sec-retary for Labour, said outstanding advances amounted to £20,000,000, and represented an increase of £25,000,000 ! since the Government took office, of which '£20,000,000 were duo to the general strike, and £5,000,000 to the Labour Government's commitments.
