Betterton, Under-Sec-retary for Labour, said outstanding advances amounted to £20,000,000, and represented an increase of £25,000,000 ! since the Government took office, of which '£20,000,000 were duo to the general strike, and £5,000,000 to the Labour Government's commitments.
