ROCK GARDENING
Rock gardening is becoming more and more popular iv both large and small gar-, dens, and much has been doric to encourage this aspect of horticulture by the Alpine and Rock Garden Society, which, with headquarters in Nelson, has distri- , buted thousands of plants and quantities of seeds to all parts of the Dominion, and also abroad. The present society, how-, ever, does not intend to continue ou the same lines, so it has been suggested that it might be made a New Zealand Society, with headquarters in Wellington, the opinion being expressed that it would be a calamity to allow the Work to cease. On Tuesday next rock garden enthusiasts have arranged a meeting at the Lower Hutt, over which the Mayor, Mr. W. T. Strand, will preside, and which Will be addressed by Mr. Wilkinson, of Nelson. As a. result of this meeting it is hoped to keep alive the activities of the society. '.
