MAGISTRATE'S COURT
i ♦ ■ To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. E. Page, S.M. . A first offender for drunkenness, who spent the night in the cells, was convicted and discharged, and another was fined the amount o£ his bail, 10s. James Flynn, a seaman, aged 45, for casting offensive matter and for a second offence of drunkenness, was fined the amount of his bail, £1, on each charge. Charged with his second offence of drunkenness, Andrew M'Gonagle, a seaman, aged 41, had his bail of £1 estreated. Jack Dingle, a cook, aged 21, for whom Mr. W. E. Leicester appeared, pleaded not guilty to the theft of an overcoat and a pair of spectacles in a case, valued at £4 15s, the property of lan Gordon Hart. After hearing the evidence the Magistrate said that the case was one full of , suspicion, but as there was just an element of doubt as to whether Dingle intended to steal the coat he would dismiss tho charge.
