CRITICISED BY UNEMPLOYED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIEB, This Day. A large meeting of unemployed this morning criticised the Government relief schemes. Instances were given of married men going on to relief jobs and coming off in debt. The Mayor (Mr. A. Vigor Brown)' expressed the opinion that -relief of unemployment was a problem for tho Government. , . . ■ . | Speakers instanced tho influx of immigrants as ono of tin* main causes of unemployment, and it was stated that no scrubcutting, fencing, and like work was now offering on farms. Modern; machinery was obviating tho necessity for wharf labourers for handling coal, oil, and other products. . , 1 The meeting expressed the opinion that the Government should open.up fresh avenues . of.:,.employment. in placeof those which-were disappearing.
