LODGE MEETINGS

Loyal Rose of Sharon Lodge, Manehes- ! ter Unity, 1.0,0. F., met at Trenthnm, last Wednesday. Turner, 1.P.D.G.M., and Guise, P.G., spoke on the hospital scheme, and Bro. Bell, D.D.G.M., gave various yiews concerning publicity, after which Sister Tobin gave an interesting talk on fraternal visits. The usual lodge greetings were accorded Visitors. . Nominations for officers were received as follows:—N.G., Bro. C. Boult; V.G., Sister, G. Marshall; E.S., Sister I. Braid; guardian, Bro. T Purvis; warden, fciister K. Skinley. The fortnightly meeting o£ Loyal Antipodean Lodge, Manchester Unity, L0.0.1r , was held, last week, Bro. T. Lynneberg, N.G., presiding. Bros. J. W. Wiley, P.D.G.M,, W. B. Brown, and B.1 W. Guise, P.G.s, were present to judge the work for the term in connection with the Ritual Shield, and also for "Turner's Merit Jewels." Three candidates were initiated, Bros. Mosley, 1.P.N.G., and A. Wainwright, lecture master, delivering the initiation charge and the lecture. Bro. R. Cook, D.G.M., Ero. R. Bell, D.D.G.M., accompanied by Bro. R. K. Couper, members of the management committee, paid an official visit and received lodge honours. Five proposals for membership were received. Bro. E. Wells, P.G., reported on the work of the Friendly Societies Dispensary. Bro. W. B. Brown, P.G., returned thanks ,on behalf of the visitors. The following nominations were received for the ensuing term; Bro. T. Lynneberg, 1.P.N.G., Bro. Snelling, N.G., Bros. Exton, Wood, and King, for V.G., Bros. Smith and M'Cornish, E.S.; Bro. Berry, warden, and Bro. Partridge, guardian. The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.---0. F., was recently held, when Sister 15. M'Farlane presided over a fair gathering. The initiation of one new member took place. Lodge honours were given to visiting brethren from Timaru, Britannia, and Rose of the Valley Lodges. Sick visitors 'gave their reports on. recent visitations. Nominations for officers for the ensuing term were, closed. At the conclusion of the meeting an enjoyable social evening was spent. The Miramar branch of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows held its fortnightly meeting last week, Bro. A. Cliorley, N.G., presiding, and Bro. C.E. Tritt, P.N.G., The district officers were in attendance. Bro; Morgan, District Master, presented the branch with a photo of the District Council. Two officers were installed by the District Mas | ter. Bro. Murphy, Dep. Dist. Master, gave the P.N.G. introductory lecture, and Bro. Norton, Dist. Sec, gave the first district degree lecture. Two new members were nominated. ' Last week members_ of the Excelsior Tent of the Independent Order of Rechabites were the hosts of their brethren of the Petone Lodge. Bro. Bennett, presided^ and welcomed the visitors, assisted b§~ Bros. Ward, Goodall, and Sist|r Johnson. On behalf of the guests .firbsl Heyward, Jenness, Simpson, and Ainslie expressed the pleasure they felt at the cordial manner in which they had been received.,' The remainder of the evening was spent in games of various kinds, several songs and recitations being contributed by members. The refreshments were in the hands of Sisters Davis, Johnson, and Fathers. Pioneer Lodges, Nos. 1, 14, and 22, U.A.0.D., assembled in strength recently,, in order to welcome Grand Lodge Supervisor G.V.P. Bro. Jackson. A.D. Bro. Cartmer was in the chair. G.L. officers and visiting lodges were welcomed, and introduced to the A.D. by the M.C., Bro. Mollison. Three candidates were initiated. The supervisor dealt in his speech with the lack, of progress in the juvenile branch of the Order, urging reconstruction. He also congratulated the A.D. and officers of No. 1 Lodge on their excellent performance during the initiation ceremotoy. G.T. Bro. Laughton also spoke on the subject o£ juvenile lnenv' bership. Other speakers were D.l' Bro. Rowland, P.D.P. Bro. Ingram, P.D.P Bro. Johnson, R.A.D. Bro. Hall, Bro. M'Mahon, and P.S. Bro. Brown. P.D.P. Bro. M'Naught extended, fraternal greetings from Pioneer Lodges Nos. 15 and 17 (Napier and Hastings). Bro. Kuch presided at the piano during harmony:
