Lothian was responsible for Thistle's first goal, as he was for the second, a fine screw shot from an awkward angle that left Tarrant, the Institute goalkeeper, guessing. Smith added the third goal by a hot shot. Just at the cud oi the first spell Institute was momentarily aggressive, but without material result, the half-time whistle sounding with Thistle leading by three goals to nil. The second spell started with Thistle pressing . vigorously, Cunningham adding the fourth • goal by heading the ball through in great style. For a spell play was more even and Institute at times became dangerous. Dickenson ■encouraged Institute's supporters by scoring with a good shot in the corner.
