SEN/OR "B." : Hutt-*, 4 Petonc ........ 1 Hula!'; .., 7 V.M.C.A. *..... 1 University^ . "...V. 5 Wesley ..........2.. Training College defaulted to Karori. Grounds were heavy for the continuation of tfe'Wellington Hookey Association'scompetitions on Saturday, but some good exhibitions^ wore witnessed. A feature of the senior A matches was the defeat of the unbeaten, Karori team by University. Hutt: J'omped homo against Y.M.G.A. to the time of 6 goals to 1, and Wesley were too good for. I'etone, winning.by 2 goals to nil. The successful teams iv the senior B games were Hutt, Huia, and University. Karori won from Training College by fault.----v : SENIOR A GRADE / '-VARSITY DEFEAT KARORI. 'Varsity and Karori provided one of the best games of those played to date, and' the issue was always in doubt, particularly towards the end, when the suburban men were; hammering at the 'Varsity goal. Practically throughout the first spell the students were on the aggressive, Hull and Spiers, the Karori full-backs, being given plenty to do.. K. PeiTin sent the Clack forwards away on one occasion, H. Perrin sending in : a good centre, but M'Leod cleared. Play returned to the Karori area, •where from a penalty corner M'Leod scored-a beautiful goal. The closing stages of tlie first spell saw Karori in the 'Varsity circle, but they were unable to penetrate the defence, being unlucky in their, "shots. Karori swept away after ■the resumption, but timely clearances by the „'Varsity backs relieved the,.pressure. '.Chen' the students gained possession, and ' Simpson added to_ the score!' 'Varsity 2, Kar6ri 0. Karori now. pressed.hard and. two -penalty corners, were given against 'Varsity, but : ;iyi.tlsont;,result. . Play still continued in tha'Varsity twenty-five, and success, came to , Karori when M'Gavin scored; from a free hit off K. Perrin., Kar^tf tried hard to equalise but failed, and;£he game ended: 'Varsity 2, Karori 1. Mr. ;H. Hatch refereed. BEAT PETONE. Petone showed up well against Wesley, but the Blues were on top for the greater "part.ef the game, and deserved their win— iMJ.* The Petone forwards were unremitting :\h- their efforts to keep possession of :the 'ball, and some bright stick-work was witnjawed, Campbell, on the right wing, beirXgf-Cparticularly prominent. Failure to; get via of the ball quickly cost the Petone sidej'a' few set-backs, but on the whole the '.combination was good, and there was neveKany prospect of a runaway victory for itlie Blues. Pyle scored early in the firsfi'-.spell for Wesley, and there was no further score at half-time. Johnson added to Wesley's tally in the second half, aud Petone were unfortunate in several sorties on the .Wesley goal. Mr. J. Smith was the referee. ;'; HUTT'S GOOD WIN. Hutt. had an easy-win on the Hutt R'ecI'eatipn Ground; when they met Y.TM.C.A., ecohhij six goals to the visitors' one. In theipfcst half the game.was very even, although Lusty and Judd both netted for the locaKteam without V.M.C.A. opening their tallyj the visiting team played very well in this half, and held the Hubtiien throughout. The game was fast, and'i^s characterised by hard-hitting from start_+,o finish. In the second spell Hutt proved far too good for V.M.C.A., and We4|;Diamond (2), andjMatthews added to the score. V.M.C.A. took the ball up to the Hutt circle several times, but it was not until about three minutes before time-that V.M.C.A. netted through the medium of Mead. This was their only score, however, and the game closed with a win for Hutt by six goals to one. Mr. A. Edwards was the referee. !f't: HUIA'S DECISIVE WIN. Y3I.C.A. did most of the attacking in the ,early,. Stages of their game with Huia, but ■their-^pponents soon gained the upper kand ,and had it not been for the sound work;; of the V.M.C.A. goalkeeper, M'lntosbj; would have put up a much larger seorie: -than was actually the case. With the scor.^2-1 in Huia's favour just before half-time-^-Yates made a splendid solo run the ■n-hdle'.length of the field, and put Huia stilMrther ahead. After the interval Huia controlled the game, and despite the fine ■worfcof M'lntosh scored four more goals, the-.sfinal score being: Huia 7, V.M.C.A. 3. Sooimrs for Huia were Yates (2), Bennettj?), Greensmith (2), and Pidgcon, and for jTounß Men Newman netted. Mr.. C. Whyjfce refereed. ... . ■ . . -. „£;! HUTT v. PETONE. Ssii, playing one man short, put up a creditable showing against Petone on the Petone ground. The home'tcam were away -w-ith,.the first bully, Ainslie sending' a velMimed centre to Biillen, who scored irom"'the left wing. The ensuing play was Biairrly m Hutt's favour, Il'. Thorpe scorlne $5?? a Pen.alty corner and finding the net ;agam within a few minutes. Hutt contim^tC'to attack, and eventually F. Stoope, immamed, beat the Petone goalkeeper, the halfrflme score being 3-1. Petone did better in the1, second spell,-but found the' de-fence-too strong to allow a score. Towards the ;^p/l Hutt hemmed Petoue in their twenty-five, and Hodgkinson got through to niake the final score Hutt 4, Petone 1. Mr..:'_C; Harvey refereed. o-;'-WIN FOR UNIVERSITY. University proved foo. good for Wesley .at Il^wtown Park, :j winning with the score^of five'goals to two. The ground was<,rjither heavy, and, as a result, the garner-was rather slow. At half-time the score -litood aypne goal each,, but in the Becofrjj spell tW students scored four goals as agiunst their opponents' one, resulting in a^'win in their favour. Tlie scorers for TJni^rsity were Mac Donald (4) and Reid; and;;for Wesley Turner scored both goals. An unusual feature of the game was that bottif.. Wesley's goals came from penalty trnUiee. ■;J LOWER GRADES. ',11. Junior. University A 3, Petone 1. Wellington 2, University B 1 K£rori 1, Huia 1. ' .'Wesley, a bye. »'r\ . Third.
