A .Aviliing' encounter took place when Institute, and Petone niet on the Petone Recreation .'Ground, a bit too Aviliing .for some Avho Avere incapacitated from taking a full-time part in the proceedings. Time and again it seemed as if Petone must score, but tho ball Avent anyAvhere except through the goal. Institute broke away several times, but the forwards met their match in Petono's back division. When it looked as if Petone would never equalise, a melee in- the mouth of Institute's goal resulted in the ball being carried over the line, the scores thus being evened. Very shortly afterwards the final whistle Avas sounded, leaving the scores unchanged: Petone 2, Institute 2.
