A good crowd of spectators Avent to Wakefield Park to see the meeting between Marist and Wellington. The field Avas in fair order, and a slight, northerly breeze blew across the ground. Play hovered about in midfield until Marist attacked again, and Avere nearly across several times, but Wellington forwards Avere playing Avell, and Avhen half-time sounded were pressing on their opponents' line. Marist 5, Wellington 0. The second spell opened in brighter fashion, with good rushes by the Wellington forwards and snappy play by the Marist backs. Broderick made a brilliant run down the line, but Avas tackled by Morgan in the corner. However, the Marist atack could not be repulsed, and when Broderick obtained possession from a passing rush, he outpaced the opposition, to score a fine try. The Marist forwards were on top of theiropponents' backs all the time, and Broderick again shoAved his speed Avhen he Avent over for another good try. The reversal sent Wellington forwards, headed by M'Lean and Clarke, down the field with a groat dribbling rush, but they were not supported by their backs. Graham and Eville made good runs for Marist, and from a forward scramble on the line M'Hardy touched down just on the deadball line. Several runs by Graham were averted by Johansen's good tackling, and time sounded with the score Marist 14, Wellington 0. Mr. J. B. Watson was referee.
