Wind—Velocity of the wind for tho 4S liours preceding 0 a.m. to-day—T.!l miles per'hour. Barometer—Yesterday, 0 a.m., 29.471n. Today, 0 a.m., 29.58 in; noon, 20.60 in. SYNOPSIS OP LAST 48 HOURS. During Saturday a cyclone rapidly developed to the north-west of Cape Maria Van Diemen. Moving with unusual speed, the centre passed through Cook Strait early on Sunday morning. An even more intense secondary cyclone developed to tho northward and tho centre of this passed north of Auckland at about 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Strong north to north-east winds to gales blew wlille the. centres wero approaching, no miles per hour being reached in gusts at Kelburn. In the rear of the centres strong southerly winds to gales blew in tho Tasman Sea, and extended gradually to parts of the Dominion. Temperatures fell rapidly during Sunday, and general rains were experienced, thero being many heavy falls in the North Island. Frosts wero recorded in parts of the South Island, and tho mouptains received a considerable fall of snow.
