FRENCH CLUB.
The fortnightly reunion of the French Club was held on Thursday in tho Pioneer Club Hall. Professor Boyd-Wil-son presided, and Madame M'lntosh conducted the conversation class The programme was in tho hands of the Rev. Mr. M'Kcnzie, and Mr. F. Mac-' kenzie. Musical items wore contributed by Miss E. Rait, who played Chopin 's "Berceuse;" Miss ' Frame, who sang a song from "Carmen" and "Obstiiiation," and Mr, Kemp, who sang Les Deux Grenadiers," and "Bois Kpais." Thesewere much appreciated. Mr. F. Mackenzie gave an interesting lecturctte on Schumann's "Carnaval," explaining the characters in the composition. The lecturer was assisted by Miss Hardwicke and Mr. Greig, who played the various parts to' which reference had been made. Then followed an- amusing, comedy, "Uno Graudo Consultation," the roles being played'by Miss C. Smythson, the Rev. Mr. M'Kenzie, and Mr. F. Mackenzie.
