IMPORTANT RAILWAY ! jWORKS. STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. j Talking of improved railway facilities, and especially the Tawa Flat deviation, the Minister of Railways (the Hon. J. G. Coates) said :— There is another point in connection with the deviation which should not be lost sight of, and that is : with a level double line two miles shorter than tlie present one all the flat country between Tawa Flat and Plimmerton would be brought within close range of Wellington, and, iii fact, suburban passenger trains could be run from Plimmerton to Wellington in less time than trams now take from Miramar to the same place. Now, what is the point? It is this: that if Tawa Flat will be nearer to Wellington by train than Miramar by tram, then Porirua Station will be * nearer also, being as it is about two minutes further on than Tawa Flat. Then Titahi Bay, one of the most beautiful seaside resorts in or about Wellington, is only ten minutes further on by motor or coach, so Mrs. J. W. Bell's decision to place her magnificent seaside sections on the market for disposal to the people of Wellington brings seaside sections to our very door. And these are seaside sections of superlative quality, being sunny, sheltered, providing safest bathing, boating, fishing, splendid golf close handy, and all the health-giving properties of sunshine and sea air. Don't lose this golden opportunity to secure an ideal seaside section on the following terms: 10 per cent. On the fall of the hammer, and the balance may remain for five years at 6 per cent, if desired. • - . ■ ■ The auction will take place about the 26th November, the plans will be ready in a few days, and the auctioneer, Dunbar Sloane, 181, Featherston street, Wellington, will-be pleased to supply full particulars to intending purchasers. Get that Titahi Bay feeling ! —Advt. IF YOU WERE ASKED THE SAFEST ESSENTIA!/ COMMODITY' TO INVEST IN YOU WOULD SAY CEMENT! Because it is wanted in ever-increasing quantities_from year to year—in city, and country—in winter and summer. Hundreds of thousands of tons are required for the works to be undertaken in'the next few/years. The National Portland Cement Company, Ltd., now being floated could not possibly be more advantageously situated, for it has high-grade coal* limestone and marl, tho three ingredients of cement, all on the spot, with an existing "railway built right to the site, of the proposed works. With cost of production low, its profits must be high. _ Read for yourself the opinions' of the highest experts in the prospectus of the company, which will be posted to you on ringing, telephone 22-565, A. Leigh Hunt, Broker, Dominion Farmers' Institute, Wellington, or any other member Wellington Stock Exchange.—Advt.
