DIVER'S FIGHT FOR LIFE.
On the floor of the ocean, where lurks danger in various forms, was staged recently a Tierce encounter to the" death between a French diver, Cappadona by name, and a giant stingray. It is the stingray s deadly and. poisoned barbed tail, used like a whip, which makes tho monster feared by divers. Cappadona was repairing the Toulon-Antibes cable when the stingray dashed at him. The huge fish struck him with its tail, cutting his diymg suit in many places, and bruising Ins body., but luckily' not cutting his. skin, otherwise ho would have been doomed. Drawing his knife Cappadona struck the stingray between the «yes, and, as he did so. tugged the haulnp signal. This saved his' life, the div-ing-suit being useless, owing to the holes torn in it. When pulled up to safety Cappadona was unconscious.
