UTILISING SOUR MILK

I had let the milk go sour, says a contributor to "Women's Life," but I wanted a cake for tea, so I hunted out an old-fashioned and well-tried recipe. With a cupful of golden syrup, half a cupful of the sour milk, a teaspoonful each of cinnamon, ground ginger and fine calt, all well and truly mixed, I put two tablespoonfuls of melted butter and,a pinch of soda in a teaspoonful of water. Then gradually I worked in two cupf uls of sifted flour, and four heaped tablespoonsfuls of grated chocolate. And I baked the affair in the shape of a loaf; it is less usual, and somehow always seems nicer ! On tho top, if I had any, I should have put some tiny cubes of crystallised ginger.
