A Press Association telegram from Dargaville states that the death took place at an early hour this'mornin^ of Mr Donald Finlayson, one of the earliest and best known settlers in the district. He was born at Waipu 62 years ago, and came to this district 50 years ago. Deceased started life in an humble way, and at the time of his death he was the largest landholder in the district. He did not fake a great part in public affairs, but had been a member ol the1 rSorough Council, and at the time of ins death was president of the Raciri" Club, a member of the Licensing Com° mittee, and a director of the N.A. Farmers' Co-op., Ltd. He leaves a wife a;ul a. family of nine children ; also several brof'ars and sisters in Various parts of the district. The burial will be at the Waipu family burying ground, tto deceased's parents being among the original settlers who came out to Waipu fror- Nova Scotia.
