DR. THACKER CHALLENGED
(IT ULMRAm—?RISS ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, 25th June. Ii; answer' to an influential deputation of citizens, Mr. C. P. Agar (who recently resigned from the City Council as' the result of the Mayor having refused to accept an amendment suggested by the councillor) definitely gave his assurance that he would challenge Dr. Thacker, M.P., to resign the Mayoralty. Mr. Agar further stated, that he would, undertake, if Dr. Thacker accepted his challenge, to submit tho matter to the judgment of the electors, and he would, if defeated, pay the cost of the flection out of his own pocket.
