LONDON MARKETS
The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated Bth instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — " Meat.—No change in prices, but on account of large quantities here and also on the way from New Zealand it is expected that prices of imported mutton will bo reduced by 2d per lb next week. . •
"Butter.—lt is reported the. Government has purchased 80,000 casks Danish, to be shipped during the next four months. It is understood that prices c.i.f. are £16 16s per cwt, against £14 2s previously.
"Hemp —Manila: market firm. Spot demand is good. "J" grade OctoberDecember, shipment £51, January-March shipment £49 ISs. Output from Ist January to 30th September was 802,000 bales, against 1,028,000 last year. Stocks Manila are '435,000, as against 203,000, due to shortage of freight. Commencing December shipment, the rate of freight for hemp i from Philippines to Great Britain will be increased from £12 10s to £15 2s 6d per ton. New Zealand: market quiet but firm. Highpoints Oc-tober-December shipment £47 10s • fair £46.
" Wool.—Market remains firm and demand continues brisk."
