BYLAW CASES
Penalties for breaches of the city bylaws were imposed by Mr. E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court to-day, as follow :
For having driven a motor-car along the footpath near the -Boat Harbour in Clyde-quay, Ernest Baycott Attwood was fined 10s, and costs 7s.
Ernest E. Beere and Henry Haywood were penalised for driving across tho intersection at Courtenay-place at a greater speed than eight miles an hour, the former to the extent of £2, and 7s costs, and the latter £3 and similar costs. "This is a very dangerous '; practice, which must be. stopped," remarked the Magistrate in imposing the fines. Herbert Thomas Avery, Cecil Wallington Brown, and Harold Wall were each fined 10s and 7s costs for leaving their motor-cars unattended in the street. Neglect to leave his horse and dray with an attendant whilst in a city street cost Thomas Monahan a fine of 5s and costs 7s.
John James Oliver failed to have lights attached to his motor-car by night, and was fined £1 and 7s costs.
For a breach of the sanitary bylaws, David Andrews was fined £2 and 7s costs. .
George Sewby, who had allowed a horse, to wander, was fined 15s and costs 7s. A fine of £1 and £1 13s costs was imposed upon Cyril Walsh for having driven a motor-oar with dazzling headlights by night.
