UNUSUAL WEATHER IN AUCKLAND

As reported above, there was an unusually heavy frost in Auckland last night, a rare occurrence. Exceptionally stormy weather was experienced during the week-end, accompanied by heavy rain showers. On Saturday evening heavy rain fell in the city and suburbs,' 1 while the wind increased in strength, and towards midnight was blowing a moderate gale. ■ On Sunday morning the ■wind died down, while the rain also eased oft', but it was only momentarily, and several heavy showers fell at intervals. On Sunday evening there was a noticeable fall in temperature, and the majority of Aucklanders sought the eeclusion of their homee and warm fires, although a few braved the cold and rain. Heavy seas are being experienced on the Coast, and a number of the smaller vessels are being held up as a result, but no damage 1 has been reported. The weather on Monday was exceptionally cold, and at midday a sharp hailstorm was experienced in town.
