S.P.C.A.
The fortiiiiglxtily meeting of the S.P.C.A. was held at the secretary's office. Customhouse-quay, laet evening, Mr. F. Meadowcroft being in the chair. Amongst other business dealt with was the matter of shelter,' etc., for old- and worn-out horses keptat the Zoo awaiting slaughter. A letter had been sent to the City Coupcit asking for some action to bs taken in the way of providing horse covers, slid cribs to place feed in for the animals. The inspector reported that three horslep had been destroyed, two attended to for sores, and put off work for various reasons. The subecriptions amounted to JBB 16s 6d, including Hi Is from Tits. Herbert and l\ard-wick-Smith, and £I'from'Mr. L.-Biun-dell.
