THE FRUIT CROP
Reporting on the prospects of the fruit crop in the Wellington district the omcers of the Horticultural Division of i/he Department of Agriculture state that the apple trees are looking well and that there is every likelihood of a fair crop. Gooseberries: Heavy setting. Nectarines and Peaches: Leaf curl very much in evidence; poor setting of fruit. Pears: Promise of a good crop; set heavily. Plums: Prospects of a good crop. Plums (Japanese): Prospects of a good crop. Tomatoes: Looking well under glass. As far as the Paimerston North district is concerned the . report states :—Apples: Heavy. Apricots: Light. Cherries: Fair. Nectarines : . Light. Peaches : Light. Pears: Medium to heavy. Plums : Heavy. Plums (Japanese): Heavy. Apples promise to be a heavy crop.
