STATEMENT BY THE PREMIER

QUESTION TO BE LAID BEFORE

CABINET

A Post reporter was informed by the Prime Minister (Right Hon. W. F. Massey) this afternoon that, at their request, he met representatives . of. the butter industry yesterday and this morning, to consider the position in which they are placed on account of the scarcity of shipping, and also that their difficulty is accentuated by the fact that, the Imperial Government has purchased most of the products of New Zealand, and controls the shipping, and therefore is not interested in taking the butter away. "The suggestion was made," said Mr. Massey, "that the New' Zealand Government should assist the producers in the difficulty which has arisen, and certain representations were made, which I have promised to lay before Cabinet at the first opportunity. But no definite arrangement has been made."
