THE APPRENTICESHIP QUESTION
For the purpose of dealing more effectively with the matter of apprentices who left their work before having completed their term of apprenticeship to go to the war, and who, after return, ing from the war, again take up the same line of. work, the Trades and Labour Council, at its meeting last evening, appointed the president (Mr. J. Read) to act in conjunction with the Returned Soldiers' Association, if necessary. The problem indicated is making itself felt among the members of the association, and as' time passes, and more of these men return, the Trades Council considers it will be more intense. In the council's opinion, the' Government seems to be averse to dealing -with the subject, but it is thought that if the R.S.A. and the council take up the question, backed' by public opinion, their views regarding the men mentioned will have to bo considered by Cabinet.. ■ • . ._
