ALLIES GAIN SOME GROUND FOOTING ON THE AISNE-MARNE CANAL. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.) (Received September 22, 2 p.m.) PARIS, 21st' September. A communique states : — We gained a footing on the right bank of the AisneMarne Canal and repulsed counterattacks. We have made marked progress at Hartsmanwielerkopf. p A French aeroplane bombed the Amagne-Lucquy station, eastward of Rethel. The High Commissioner reports :—: — LONDON, 21et Sept., 5 p.m. On the right bank of the Aisne-Marne canal the Allies have gained a footing on both sides of a post at Sapigneul. In the " Vosges, sensible progress has been made by means of grenades in the trenches at Hartmanswielerkopf. One of the Allies' dirigibles bombed the junction at Amagne-Lucquy, east of Rethel, during the night. There has been efficient artillery action on the rest of the front.
