'.I WORK BEFORE PARLIAMENT [I* * BILLS TO COME. >'■>' flChere is no reason to depart from the jjjpinion already expressed that the ses;mon will end on or about Saturday, 9th '^October. The excellent work done by ! : the House of Representatives in the last "lew days has cleared the decks considerably. The Taxing Bills are apparently not • quite_ ready for immediate submission to 'the House, but they are expected any day. J^Lobby gossip trends rather in the direc'tjon, of suggesting that, with some alterations that are said to have been made, .they will not have an unduly difficult or {protracted passage. Parliament generKlly .accepts the view that money is required, and is inclined to give the neces'sjtous circumstances first consideration. IT^iid, of course, is reviewing the position i generally and taking into consideration }ijie major obstruction possibilities, ithough here and there there may occur attempts to further alter the Incidence. i;|Next week the Public Works and the i|tailway; Statements are expected. It i» (obvious from what , has already beeiJ ;44id by Ministers that the Pubb'c Work* .Statement will limit the allocation of funds .■to works of necessity, and no panic cessa"tion of expenditure likely to have inijurious effect in the country need be Isared. Ii In. addition to these important matters, ;and the Bills already on the order-paper, 'there will also be legislation introduced i&} dealwith the disease known as miners' JOdmplaint; a Commercial Trust Act '.Amendment to deal with the cost of Jiving problem, and which will further menace the operations of trusts; a small ■l)epartmental amendment to the land legislation ; a Railways Authorisation BJU, and probably a small amendment to the Arbitration Act. LI!TWsL I !TWs afternoon the House will continue to deal with a number ' of small Bills, and will no doubt reacH.lhe National Registration Bill, upon J^hich an interesting discussion is expected.
