HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MESSAGE.

The High Commissioner report&:~ LONDON, lith. May, 8 p.m. Lord Crewe, in the House of Lords, said that the following . information had been received from Sir lan Hamilton, in respect to the operations at the Dardanelles up to Thursday last :— "On the night of 2nd May, there wa» a violent attack by the 'enemy all along the line. Fighting went on from 8 p.m. to midnight. The attack was repulsed with inconsiderable loss to us. but with heavy losses to the enemy. On every sue* ceeding night up to the' 6th the enemy renewed the attacks, but with diminishing intensity. On each occasion th«y were l-epulsed %yithout difficulty, a certain advance being made by our troops. During the whole time, the positions that were gamed Were strengthened, and further supplies came up. It wa« reported that in front of the position Occupied by tho 29th Division a- very largo number of dead Tutka were found, and nameplates were picked up, which showed that the losses of the enemy were very, heavy indeed. "The French on their side gained an important point on the left, and were stated to have ihflicted, with the bayonet, very heavy losses on the enemy. The operations all through had been supported by the Fleet, but there was no special information to be given yet from a naval point of view, although they had been rendering moet valuable assistance to the land operations. "The Australians and New Zealandera had also been engaged, and fulfilled a most valuable function in containing powerful forces of the enemy towards the narrow neck of the peninsula." LONDON. 12th May, 3.50 p.m. On Saturday evening, the FrancoEnglish forces operating in the south of Gallipoli 'Peninsula, with the support of tho guns of the .Allied fleets, Wade a general attack against the position already damaged the day before. The troops, with remarkable spirit and vigour, took, at the point of the bayonet, several lines of trenches on the heights of Krithia. During the day they consolidated fortified ground conquered the day before. The Turks made no attempt to counter-attack.
