TRINITY METHODIST CHURCH

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Trinity ! Methodist Church, Wellington South, was held in the schoolroom last evening, Mr. C. E. Luxford presiding. In the annual report grateful thanks were returned for another year of success and progress. The attendances at all services had maintained a fair standard, and there was every indication of a material increase in the coming year. The membership stood at 172 seniors and 33 juniors. Valuable work had been rendered by the choir, with Miss Ena Ward as organist and Mr. Ernest Dawson as conductor, and great regret • was expressed at the loss in the near future of Miss Ward and Mr. Dawson. There was a notable increase in the Sundayschool membership, while other departments had also done well, particularly the Junior Christian Endeavour Society (under Mr. Worthy Martin). 'Die Literary and Debating Society and the Tennis Club were both in a flourishing condition. The officers for the coming year are :—: — Church steward, Mr. C. E. Luxford ; treasurer, Mr. S. Boxall; secretary, Mr. J. D. Allan. During the evening the Rev. Messrs. Slade and Richards delivered short addresses. The former expressed regret at being unable, through ill-health, to carry out the work he so much desired to do, but he hoped to be quite well before very long. Speaking of his long connection with the ministry (about 40 years), Mr. Slade said that he looked back on those years with charm. " There is nothing in the whole world so worth while propagating as the Gospel of Christ. It is the highest vocation a man can follow, and keeps us in the right way of life." He then urged all to make the church a great influence in that end of the city. Mr. Richards spoke. on a text. "What sort of a church would my church be if everyone in it were just like me." In his remarks he referred to the various types of people who attended church, and concluded by appealing to all to follow the example of the best of these. During the evening items were contributed as follow :— Songs, Misses Gladys Dawson, E, Boxall, and 0. Chappell and Mr. A. L. Wall; part songs, the choir j violin solo, Mr. W. G. Slade; recitation, Mr. J. Cassie. Miss Slade played the accompaniments.
