ELECTION ECHO

Mr. F. M. B. Fisher's rowdy election meetings in December last were recalled in the proceedings at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when Patrick Callaghan was charged with disturbing a political gathering at the Mission Hall, Torystreet, on the night of the 4th December, 1914. Tho case was partially heard in January and on subsequent dates, and for various reasons has been adjourned from time to time. The police have been anxious to clear the matter up, so the hearing was set down for to-day, when the defence was investigated. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided. For the defendant Mr. J. M'Grath called several witnesses to prove the rowdy nature of the meeting, and submitted that Callaghan was not to blame. Mr. Cooper entered a conviction, with a fine of £2. costs 11s, in default fourteen days in gaol.
