» (»T TELEGRAPH— SPECIAL TO TIUI POST.) OARTERTON, This Day. While returning from Palmerston North on Saturday afternoon by motor cur, through the M»nawatu Gorge, Messrs. T. V. Caverhill, of Carterton, and IT. Morison, of Blairlogie, had an unpleasant experience. They were proceeding very slowly through the Gorge, and when well on their way observed another car coming 1 round a dungorous bend in tbe opposite direction. Mr. Caverhill pulled up ou tho roadside, and tho approaching car rounded the bend suid ran into Mr. Caverhill's oar full force, pushing hie car baok some fifteen feet, »nd leaving ono of tho hind wheels hanging oyor » sheer drop into the water of the river, 100 foot below. Both cswa wore badly damaged, and tho occupants had a miraculous escape. The approach ing car was a new Overland, and w«6 occupied by two ladies and the driver, bound for Wnnganui.
