QUALITY OF MILITARY BOOTS
COMPLAINT IN AUCKLAND.
(II 18/MRAPB— SPBCUIi TO THE POST.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A complaint as to the alleged poor quality of somo of the boots supplied to the members of the Expeditionary Force in camp at Epsom was Teceived at the meeting of the Executive of the Auckland Patriotic Committee yesterday from Mr. C. A. Watts, secretary of the Auckland Boot Operatives Union. It was decided to refer the matter to the authorities for an investigation A pair of the boots was received by the committee from Mr. Watte, who states that there are many complaints in regard to the quality of the boots. The stiffening, he asserts, is very Weak, and the boots are pooriy lined, whilst the 'seams aie very rough. Some of the soles are also stated to be very deficient in quality. Mr. Watte says that many of the Territorials have been unable to wear the boote supplied to them and that they are wearing their own boots instead. He adds that the boots complained of do not bear the name of the manufacturer. - The Mayor has drawn the attention of the Minister for Defence to the complaint.
