The operations of the New Z&alatid Farmers' Dairy Union for the past year have not been as successful as was expected owing principally' to the low prices obtained for butter, and the directors aro unable to_ recommend payment of a dividend. The quantity of butter made was 412 tons 5 owt, and cheese 365 tons 2 cwt; the total value of tho turnover being £80,089. One hundred tons of butter was sold f.o.b. at 124 d, and the balanco shipped on consignment, and sold in New Zealand for local consumption. The cheese was all shipped on consignment save a small portion sold in New Zealand for local orders; the offers from London not coming up to the idea-s of the suppliers interested. Suppliers are urged to make "persistent efforts to increase the supply at their respective factories, ac it is only by this moans that any further benefit can now accrue to them ; the directors have done all in their power to leturn the utmost, payment' for butter fa,t, and it 16 only by the suppliers bringing clean, marketable milk, and plenty of it, that the returns can be inoreasoa. The retiring directors aro Mr. D. Buick, M.P. and Mr. J. R. Whyte, who offer thomsolves for re-elec-tion. Mr. R. Wilberfoss, of Wellington, is standing for re-election as auditor.
