YOUNG MAN'S SUICIDE
(IT THgOIUPH.— PRBSS ABIOCHTIOS.) • DUNEDIN, 13th May. At the inquest on Hugh Stewart, a young Scotchman, who shot himself dead this morning in the Prince of Wales Hotel, evidence showed that deceased appeared to oe in good spirits yesterday. He, however, bought a' revolver at a pawn shop, and informed a friend that he just wanted it for a bit of sport. Constable Sorrell said that he had. interviewed the young woman referred to, who said that she had informed Stewart some time ago that she could never marry him on account of the differences in their religious beliefe. The Coroner returned a verdict that deceased died from the effects ot a gunshot wound self-inflicted whilst in. a state ot temnorary insanity.
