LODGE MEETING
Court Sir William Jervois, A.O.R, held its fortnightly meeting at Newtown on Tuesday night. One new member was added to the roll. After the court business was concluded the court adjourned, and a very successful "social" was held, the room being well filled with members and their friends. Songs were given by Mr*. Linde and Miss Worth, nnd Messrs. M'lntyre, Worth, Tucker, Morns, and Wright, recitatforts by Misses Bishop, M'lntyre, and Gauemp, and recitations by Misses Neii3on and Marshall. Bro. Wilson presided at the piano. A hearty vote of thanks was given tp the performers.
Reported extensions of the Union S.S. Company's operations have had the ef* feet of hardening the price of the shares. To-day tlufe company's share "sold at 12s in Wellington. Yesterday there were sellers at £2 11s and the day before £2 Bs. A year ago the average market price was £1 19s 6d, and the year before that £1 17s 3d.
