"Tbe Aims and Objects of the United Labour Party" . will be the subject of an address to be delivered by the Hon. G. Fowlds in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall on Friday evening.

The Karori reservoirs, which some little time ago had run very low, have benefited' considerably by the recent rains, and there is now a fair stream, of water running into them. The depth of the water has been greatly increased, but the reservoirs are not vet full. As it is just sixty years ago since the Knox Presbyterian Church at Lower Hutt was established, the congregation i is now celebrating its diamond jubilee- ! Special services were held at the church | yesterday, and there were record attendances throughout the day. The services were conducted by the Rev. R. Ingliss, M.A., of Khondallah, who conveyed to the congregation^ greetings from the Wellington Presbytery, and from various prominent church members. He spoke 01 the progress made by the Knox Church, and of the good work it was doing, and specially urged the congregation to continue without separation from the parent body. Amongst those present at the service yesterday morning were several old residents who remember the church in the very early days. These included Mrs. Knight, of Waiwetu, who was married in the church sixty years ago; Mrs. Halley, of Wellington; Mrs. J. Cundy (Featherston), and Messrs Peter Speedy (Belmont) and William Milne, of Taita, who is said to be the oldest member of tho congregation. Mr. Milne, together with Mr. Samuel Smith, also a very old member, prepared the Bite on which, the church now stands. The first minister was tne Rev. William Dron, who arrived in Wellington early in May, 1852, and was sent to the charge of the Hutt district on the 19th of the month. Yesterday the church was prettily decorated, and special hymus were sung. The jubilee celebrations will be continued on Wednesday evening, when a "social" will bo held. Members of the Presbytery and reprpsenttaives of other churches will be pre&ent. The Rev. J. M Caw is lb*. minister afc present in charge of the church.
