KILLED ON THE WHARF
A WELL-KNOWN WATERSIDE WORKER LOSES HtS LIFE CRUSHED AGAINST SHED WALL. A well-known figure amongst Wellington waterside workers in the person of Charles Thorpe was accidentally and instantaneously killed this morning on the Glasgow Wharf. Thorpe was assisting to load tow into the steamer Surrey when a dump of tow that had beeu roped, turned over on him and crushed him aga-insb- the shed wall. When picked up, Thorpe was- found to be dead, his neck having been broken. Deceased was a candidate at the last biennial municipal election for a seat on the City Council.
