OPERATIC CONCERT.
Not for some time has there been presented to Wellington music-lovers so captivating a programme as is to be submitted at the operatic concert to be given by Mr. Philip Newbury in the Town Hall to-morrow night. Many have expressed a desire to hear tho tenor in some of the gems of his repertoire, and he has made an entrancing selection, as is obvious from the programme published in full elsewhere. Mr. Newbury is to sing "Yes, Let 'Me Like a Soldier Fall" "Maritana"), "My Raptured Gaze" "Martha"). "On With the Motley" "I Paliacci"), "Take a Pair of Sparkling Eyes " (" Gondoliers "), and " Come Into the Garden, , Maud " ; and with Miss Rita Lyons will sing the glorious "Miserere" duet from "II Trovatore" (Verdi) and the duet from the Garden Scene in "Faust.** Miss Lyons is to sing "Tho Jewel Song" (from "Faust") and " A Summer Night " (Goring Thomas). Mr. Hugh Wright is to sing "Even Bravest Heart" (from "Faust") and " From Oberon in Fairyland " (Slater); and Miss Agriee M. Segrief will sing the canzone " Strida la Vampa" (from Verdi's opera "Tl Trovatore ") and Landon Ronald's ballad '•Down' in the Forest." Mr. D. A. Kenny will preside at ' the piano. Popular prices are being charged. The box plan is rapidly filling at the Dresden.
