OLD NAVALS' ASSOCIATION.
#■ ANNUAL MEETING. The Old Navals' Association held its eighth annual meeting last evening at the boat station. Major Menzies presided. There were about thirty members present. The annual report stated, inter alia, that Petone had won for the third year in succcession the annual cutter race for the White Horse Cup. Of the five times the competition for this cup has been held, Petone has won it four times, and Wellington only once. The December race was won by Wellington, making their wins two. ' Regret was expressed that owing to ■ lack of support the proposal to form a Reserve Corps had to be abandoned. The committee also regret to report the deaths of Messrs. J. Stitt and W. E. Redding, members of the association, during the yeai. Acknowledgment was made of donations amounting to £9 18s. The statement of finances showed a credit balance of £30 10s Bd. The election of officers resulted i — Patron, Captain C. J. Johnston, M.L.C ; president, Colonel John Duncan ; vicepresidents, Majors A. Tt. Hislop, 11. Davy, C. J. Cooper, Surgeons G. O. Gillon, and A. Martin, Adjutant Biss, Lieutenants Cruickshanks, Hume, AL E. Dcnniston, Bandmaster Cimino. C.P.O. W. Harris, and J. Rabe (all reelected), Major Menzjes' name was added to the list ; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. K. Couper (re-elected) ; committee, Messrs. Tandy, Watson, Trevor, Sinclair, Casey, Baker, lievoi.port, Kitching, Griffiths, Nation, Barnes, and Smith ; auditors, E. Meek and H. Bulford. During the evening Major Menzies, on behalf of P.O. Roberts, presented to ox-C_P.O. Rabe, as coxswain of the association's crew, a handsome silver cup, which is for an annual cutter race between past and present members of the Wellington Navals. Major Menzies was further requested to present to Mr. E. T. Taylor a framed photograph of the- winning association's White Horse Cutter prew in recognition of his kindness in securing sucn a valuable tiophy. Mr. Taylor briefly replied.
