TELEGRAMS. CADET RIFLE MEETING.
AN UNFORTUNATE POSITION. (Bt Telkgbaph.-— Special to The Post.] PALMERSTON N., This Day. Heavy rain yesterday morning made the conditions somewhat dispiriting for the cadet rifle meeting organised by the Manawatu Rifle Association. The school cadet matches had to be postponed till next day, but tho defence corps proceeded to shoot for the £87 worth of trophies provided by local citizens and the association. The honours of the day rested with Sergeant Perrin of the Palmerston High School, •who, despite the bad weather, put on 34 out of a possible 35 at 200 yards Colour-Sergeant Copeland {Wanganui), 31, was second, and Lieutenant Gardiner (Napier), 30, was third. The Wv nganui team won the teams match with' a score of 247 ; Palmerston North High School A 234, Napier 233, Dannevirke 165, High School B 155, Wanganui 140. Sergeant Perrin topped the aggregates at the 200 and 500 ranges with 63, Col-our-Sergeant Copeland (Wanganui), 59, being second, and Lieut. Gardiner (Napier), 57, third.
