THE HERO OF KOPENICK.

Wilhelm Voight, who in December, 1906, was sentenced to four years' imprisonment at Berlin for stealing muni.cipal funds fromj the town of Koperdck, which he obtained by posing as a captain of the Footguards, has been released. By means of a- uniform, .a forged .order,. 'and the necessary assurance, the cob1 Lbler induced a corporal and a file of 'men to arrest the Mayor of Kopenick and proceed with him to Berlin. He then coolly appropriated five thousand marks. Voight's enterprise added considerably to the gaiety of nations, but was, naturally, a source of much ark'noyance to the military. The "hero" has had at least one imitator, in Austria, but this did not in any way detract from the brilliancy of his exploit, which has supplied the theme for a, comio opera. (
