AUCKLAND, 16th January. At tho Polico Couit to-day, beforo Mr Dyer, S.M., the partly heard charges of sly grog-selling against John Sheehan and Bert Duncan wero proceeded with. After considerable evidence Duncan and Sheehan wero each sentenced to a month's imprisonment. ELECTRIC LIGHTING AT AUCKLAND. • AUCKLAND, 16th January. It is proposed by ths City Council to turn on electric light and power on 10th February. A report on the question of equipment and the staff required for the plant was read at a meeting of the council to-night from tho Electrical Engineer, and this will be considered at a special meeting next week.
